Complimentary tools

Know where you stand before you spend.

Two complimentary diagnostics, built on the same evidence base we use in engagements. One reads your organisation, one reads your people. Both take minutes, and the result is yours to keep.

For organisations

AI Maturity Benchmark

The Benchmark reads two things. AI applicability tells you how much AI matters to your business model. AI maturity tells you how capable you are of responding. The gap between them tells you your position.

Most assessments measure only the second. That treats every organisation as though AI arrives on the same terms, when a high-volume information business and a licensed, hands-on one are facing entirely different questions.

Run it alongside the AI Capability Index for a fuller picture. The Benchmark reads the system your people work inside. The Index reads what your people can do within it. Together they show whether capability is being held back by the organisation, or the organisation is waiting on capability.

How much AI applies to your business model

A measure on how much of the work AI can do and how exposed your business model is to AI automation.

Six dimensions, five bands

One leader answers a set of plain questions about how the organisation actually works with AI. In a few minutes you get an overall maturity read, a profile across all six dimensions, and a clear view of where your maturity is capped.

Leadership & StrategyGovernance & RiskData & Technology Operating ModelPeople & AdoptionValue & Use-cases
01Ad hoc

AI use is unmanaged and personal, with no shared direction or guardrails.

02Exploring

Leaders see the need and run early pilots, but little is written down or repeatable.

03Establishing

Foundations are taking hold: known guardrails, owned data, and use cases starting to land.

04Integrating

AI is built into how work runs, with the disciplines to scale it safely.

05Embedded

AI is part of how the organisation operates and improves, end to end.

Readiness gates

The diagnostic checks the foundations that have to be in place before higher maturity is reached. A dimension can look advanced on paper, but if the governance, data or capability underneath it has not cleared the gate, your maturity is likely going to be capped.

Where the two axes put you

AI Applicability and AI maturity are scored separately. One describes how AI-fit your business model is and the other describes how far along the AI-enablement journey you are.

Exposed

AI matters considerably to the model, but the organisation is not ready to respond.

Closing the gap

AI matters considerably and capability is developing, but maturity still trails what the model requires.

Advantage-ready

High applicability and high maturity. The organisation is positioned to turn AI into material advantage.

Balanced

Current maturity is broadly proportionate to what the operating model requires.

Sheltered

AI currently has limited applicability, so low maturity creates less immediate exposure.

Ahead of need

AI maturity materially exceeds what the current model requires, so further investment should clear a higher value hurdle.

Three more sit between them: Underprepared, Well placed and Prepared.

For you and your team

AI Capability Index

We have built a workforce intelligence and development platform that measures how people work with AI, identifies their future-role potential, and helps develop the AI capabilities they need next.

It works for a person, a team or a whole organisation, from AI literacy to setting the standards.

Get a baseline, a sector comparison, and a plan: sharpen the dimensions you lead in, or lift the ones holding you back.

Return to see how far your own, your team's or your organisation's AI capability has shifted.

Seven dimensions, one persona

You answer a set of plain, first-person statements about how you actually work with AI. In about five minutes you get an overall Index score, a profile across all seven dimensions, and an AI Persona that reflects your strongest areas and your adaptation speed.

PromptingContentDataAutomation StrategyBuildingJudgement

What sets it apart

  • It captures judgement, whether you can tell when AI is right and when to step in. Most assessments never measure this.
  • It benchmarks you against others, dimension by dimension, across people, sectors and countries, not just an absolute score.
  • It is built for the agentic era, designed after autonomous agents arrived, so it measures agentic capability, not just prompting.
  • It is tool-agnostic and repeatable, tied to no product, and built to be re-taken so you can see whether capability is genuinely moving.

The skill underneath is a loop of judgement

Skills tied to a particular tool tend to date as the technology changes. What lasts are the transferable AI capabilities people carry across changing technologies, roles and work contexts: directing, confirming, verifying, evaluating and deciding. Each one is necessary, and the weight of judgement increases as an AI output moves closer to real-world action.

01Direct

Point AI at the right problem and give it the context and constraints it needs.

02Confirm

Confirm it answered the task you set and followed your instructions.

03Verify

Check important claims against trusted evidence, authoritative sources or the real world.

04Evaluate

Judge whether the result is good enough, appropriate and safe for the situation.

05Decide

Own the decision about what to use, change or do next.

The roles work is moving toward

The Index maps your capability profile to eight future-role categories, triangulated from Microsoft, McKinsey, WEF, PwC and Gartner research, and projects your two closest-fit matches.

AI-assisted Generalist

Mainstream office workers using AI for drafting, analysis, research, communication and routine execution.

Workflow Integrator

People redesigning workflows, building repeatable AI-enabled routines, and improving team productivity.

Manager / Decision Steward

Leaders using AI for insight but retaining judgement, accountability, prioritisation and people leadership.

AI Translator

Bridge roles translating business needs into AI use cases, training, adoption, and implementation pathways.

Specialist Builder

AI engineers, automation engineers, data engineers, platform teams, and agent builders.

Governance / Risk Lead

Policy, controls, privacy, assurance, model risk, legal, audit, and responsible AI oversight.

Commercial / Relationship Lead

Sales, partnerships, client advisory, and negotiation roles where trust and human relationship remain central.

AI Operations Lead

People managing agent reliability, workflow performance, AI tooling, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Optima, the coach built into your results

The Index does not stop at a score. Optima, your AI capability coach, opens straight from your results dashboard and works with you on the dimensions your profile says to develop next. It is included for everyone who takes the Index.

For you, your team, or your whole organisation

Take it individually for a personal read, or across a team to see where capability is strong, where it is thin, where a critical skill rests on a single person, and who may be falling behind. It is a sound foundation for training designed around each person's real work and the role they are heading towards.

Better together

Run both across your leadership team and you get a combined people × organisation read: where capability sits, where the foundations cap it, and where the next step pays back.
